THE RAINY SEASON

 THE RAINY SEASON

We welcome the rains after the hot and dry summer.

Clouds appear in the sky and give the first signal of rain.

Then the rain comes in showers with thunder and lightning.

Rivers, ponds, and wells fill up and the earth looks green with new grass.

On rainy days there are no lessons at school.

The children come out into the flooded street and float their paper boats.

Sometimes the rain does not stop for days.

The village roads are covered with mud.

When rivers overflow, the floodwater washes away crops and houses.

Without rain, crops cannot grow, but too much rain is bad for them.
